The International Filler
September 14th 2007 09:39
Hello dears, this blog will be a little bit of filler- you see I forgot to set the Research Rodents to work and so I have no data with which to compile an entry. But fear not, I'm going to draw on prior conversations and observations to bring you a slight insight into our young people's plans to travel this world.
Yes I know I brought you something similar about languages before but now I'm talking about getting out there and putting that skill to use, so sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
Why do our young go-getters want to get out there and experience different cultures? Well for them it's not enough to know that these cultures exist, they actually want to feel them. They want to be that TV presenter getting their face painted, they want to the ones sending home pictures of themselves in exotic locations.
We all want something else, really. We always seek out what we don't have, but once we have it we find another want to pursue.
Okay that last bit was slightly off track 'cause what I'm tying to get at is that the pursuit of an international experience is directly related to its exotic allure. Kind of mesmerizing, really. It's the feather in your cap, the tale you tell at the pub, the different train of thought that gets you through the day. Our crowning jewel to define us as people and give as a retreat from our own little worlds.
I could go on with the metaphors and flowerily language all night, but for what reason? You know what I mean and you all have places you want to go- don't let me keep you.
