A day at the markets
December 2nd 2007 04:32
If you're looking to feed the family or stock up for a massive feast for a special occasion I can suggest no better place than your local markets to pick up all the necessary food stuffs and even pick out some unusual ingredients and experiment in the kitchen.
If you're looking to bring variety to more than just your pallet you can also head to your local market place for some unique decorations for yourself and/or your house.
Designers looking to get started often set up a stall or two to begin making a name for themselves and the location means for won't be paying thought the nose for any of your purchases. High fashion although it may be one day, it certainly will not cost that much at the markets. Also if you're after something that truly is vintage rather than merely having a vintage feel, the stalls that sell what is new are always located within a stone's throw of true retro-carrying outlets so you can pick up something that was actually around in the 60's. These items may have been jazzed up for left in their original state but are certainly going to be in a decent condition.
Also, if you're looking for something rare or unique for yourself or as a present it goes without saying that you're sure to find heaps of one-offs of items that were thought lost.
If you're in or around Sydney you can check out this site for a list of all the local markets and their trading times.
