Icelandic attitutes towards police
July 13th 2009 08:55
This entry is a little bit of a curve ball. We don't hear much about Iceland, so I've decided to update you on what the young people if this Nordic country think of police-run workshops and seminars on issues such as drugs and traffic regulations. The findings come from this report. This entry also wraps up with stats of what eh general attitude towards police is. Enjoy.
Firstly, 87% of the participant’s ages between 18 and 20 had, at some point, received education from the police. Most of the remaining 13% which did not receive this education stated it wasn't available to them.
When asked to recall what topics were covered, 67% remembered police education relating to traffic, while 54.5% recalled learning about the damage caused by illicit drugs. Only 3% remembered information covering victims of crime.
When asked how satisfied they were with the police education they received, 77% of all participants were either very or rather satisfied.
When asked about their attitudes towards the police, 64.9% of the participants stated that they had either a very positive or rather positive attitude towards the police. On the whole, females were found to have a more positive attitude towards the police force.
There are further stats and accompanying graphs in the report which can be viewed by clicking the above link, but I just thought I'd give you a sneak peak of the contents.
