Harry Potter and his effect on Generation Y
November 19th 2007 02:22
Harry Potter and his ability to have a full set of chronicles in almost every person’s home.
Okay maybe not as sensational as anything J.K. Rowling ever came up with but I’m working on it. Ask most Gen Y-ers why they read Harry Potter and I suspect the overwhelming majority will reply because they wanted to. No, they don’t mean that in a smart Alec way, they honestly didn’t want to put the books down, they found them to be well written, funny and their entertainment value was positively through the roof!
Now how did we little Gen Y munchkins get into Harry Potter, does anyone remember? Well word of mouth seems to be the preferred modus operandi, with most persons saying they had heard of the books or had them recommended but no one could remember seeing or hearing any advertising- at least for the initial book. Certainly book sales did sky rocket once the movies were launched and there are still those among us that have only seen the celluloid versions of Harry & Co.’s adventures.
But alas, all good things come to an end- and what an end according to most of you! You simply lapped up Harry’s horcrux and hallows fiasco but now that it’s over you can’t help but feel a tat empty inside. No matter, the books and movies are of course still there fir your enjoyment forever more.
