Are we a generation of bathers of showerers?

October 16th 2007 00:53
So does Gen Y like like to splish and splash to announce they're having a bath on a Saturday night, or do we like to hop into a shower 2 people at a time to conserve water? As one survey participant remarked 'what a strange thing to write about' but I maintain that I am providing a civil service, so goggles on and bottoms up we we delve into generation Water Consumption's self-cleansing habits.

It seems baths are very much about splishing and splashing, oh and can someone please pass me the bubble bath? Thanks.

To bathe is to de-stress, relax and be happy and carefree like a childhood version of yourself with rubber duckie in tow. Now I recently have re-discovered my bath tub so if a random person came up to me and asked if I bathe or shower (because such occurences are common in my residential city of La La Land) I would indicate the I bathe. The rest of society, who live on Planet Reality indicated 30 metres before turning that they prefer to shower. Most gave a coy smile when asked if this was done alone or in company and one gentleman suggested a scenario that I simply must try- but I digress. Showers it seems, are the modus operadi of the time impaired. There are meetings to attend, lunch to be made or sleep to be caught. What? basic hygiene, yes, okay. Where's the shower, there? Sensational, I'll hop in while pulling my socks off and fiddling with the knobs to get the temperature right. Can someone please pass me the phone, I think I have time to call my boss and go over my concerns about the Johnson case before needing both hands to wash behind my ears.

Look I'm sorry but if you didn't want the world having access to a play-by-play of what your shower routine consists of you shouldn't have signed that consent form. What, no you weren't drunk when you signed, no scientific link has been established between slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and drunkenness, don't be so alarmist. We'll discuss this later, I have a blog to write.

Showers are faster and because they're at eye level the tend to stick out. Baths on the other hand are soothing and reminiscent of days before you knew or cared what deadlines and budgets were, but because you pretty much need to be passed out on the floor to see a wash yourself tub, we tend to overlook them and hop straight into the shower... even if this means standing in the bathtub. Hmmmm
