21st Birthday Celebrations
August 8th 2008 08:47
The 21st birthday- after this there is no um-ing or uh-ing about whether you're an adult; you are and that is that. So, seeing as this mile stone of maturity is unavoidable, most of us seem to think we should crash into definite adulthood with friends and presents and music on all fronts i.e. a massive party in the senior citizen's honor,
Thismonth weak I've been a bit lazy busy to conduct any primary research, so I'll be basing my stolen findings one someone else's work (click to find out who).
Yes, most of us to party hearty.
We rent out venues, hire equipment, have themes and request our guests to come in costume. I'm not saying we don't do this for other celebrations, simply that we take it one step further for the 21st. Now, if you're sitting there thinking "my dear Wynona, you're truly scraping the bottom of the barrel if this is your topic for today" fear not, I've got a really good angle. The point that I'm trying to get at is that the festivities are not just about someone getting one step closer to the grave.
We throw a party, but a large part of it is because we want the attention. We want a day where it's all about us and everyone is super nice to us. We've got friends and family who we like being around, so we round them up and throw them into a room where everywhere you turn you see someone who makes your day (and probably life) better. Yes, superficially we want to make it official that we're adults now, but beyond that (or maybe even before that) we're humans and we want to re-connect with our support group.
And after reading that, I promise I'll have a better post in the works by tomorrow.
