The Females are called 'Yobettes'

You may have heard of them being called 'ladettes'. They're the young women who insist on drinking purely to get drunk, they're rowdy, offensive and crude, well, superficially anyway. The Australian term for these young ladies is, apparently, 'yobettes' and they're getting plastered in a pub year you.
Last night's feature on 60 Minutes about this division on Generation Y spoke to two of these specimens and asked them, why? Why the drinking and the fighting and the sexual aggression?
Usurpingly, the drinking was an escape. These boozers aren't happy. Now while they may not know how to fix their situation/s, they sure know how to block it out for a bit- bring out the piss. And there's a bit of a challenge in it too. There's a little bit of "look at me, I'm still standing". A touch of "I can out do you" to it all. There's an admiration to be gained from pushing (what’s left of) their liver to new extremes. But don't write these girls off just yet because I've done some investigating of my own and found that their logic for this is the same as the logic of self-mutilators.
The cutters that I've spoken to in my time all say they do it for control; something's making them unhappy and they feel they have no power over it but they do have the power to make themselves bleed. Yes, they're hurting themselves, but they're causing the pain- they're making something happen. They have the power to cause an effect. They are powerful, and it's meant to make up for not being able to control the cause of their unhappiness.
The drinkers I've spoken to say the same thing; they get attention for still being able to talk (slur), a little bit of respect or this being able to walk (stumble), and there's amazement on the faces in the crowd when they down yet another. See those reactions? The yobettes made that happen- they had control over the situation.
Another factor that inevitably came up, seeing as this is a story about girls, is boys.
These girls have been mistreated by the man in their lives so they say “I'm going to get them before they get me”. If they want to, they'll stick their tongue down your throat. They might grope you, and if they have sex with you, it's them riding you. It's them using you, and it's meant to be an 'up yours' to all the men who've used them.
Hurt, sad women, drinking for control and pushing all their own barriers to gain a little bit of (perceived) control wherever they think they can get it. It's not that they really want to punch anyone in the face or even mean the obscenities they shout, they just need to feel like the have a little bit of power and control.
